As Director of Strategic Partnerships, I lead on partner relationships. It is my responsibility to identify, develop, and foster deep rooted mutually beneficial relationships with the intention of delivering the best possible outcomes for the individuals we support. I am passionate about equity and ensuring that the services we offer are shaped and informed by the people who use them.
With 30 years experience working in housing and homelessness services, I have worked in both National and Local Government as well as the voluntary sector.
Prior to joining THN I was Director of Sector Development at Homeless Link, tasked with supporting the vast range of local homelessness organisations across England to develop and deliver the greatest impact that they could in their local communities.
Dedicated to working in partnership, I am skilled in creating meaningful and lasting relationships that deliver excellence and support people to reach the aspirations they seek. During the pandemic, I was part of the Government Taskforce leading on the ‘Everyone In’ initiative which resulted in over 30,000 people being supported away from the streets and saving many lives.
I have been known as ‘Positive Pete’ by colleagues over the years and really focus on coaching and valuing the efforts of everyone I work with. I know the only way we can make a difference is by working together and valuing the wonderful skills and knowledge of everyone.
My favourite quote is: ‘Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse. If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.’ – Ted Lasso
Coming from the North East, I am very proud of my roots and have a particular love of Newcastle United, Auf Wiedersehen Pet and Sam Fender, no stereotyping obviously. I am married with 2 wonderful kids and take great pride in all that they achieve and enjoy embarrassing them with my wonderful dance moves and great jokes.
I love the way that THN continues to challenge itself to deliver impact and make a difference. Most importantly, we try to be our best by being brave, innovative and learning from our mistakes.
